Galldris Outreach Programme – Beating Time HMP

David Wake, as part of the Galldris outreach programme recently visited two Birmingham prisons to expand our engagement with HMPs. We are excited to announce our collaboration with the charity Beating Time, to participate in their inspiring project, ‘Inside Job.’ During our visits to HMP Hewell and HMP Birmingham, we had the opportunity to observe their operations firsthand.

Inside Job is an innovative initiative led by peers, which focuses on finding jobs for prisoners while they serve their sentences. The programme identifies the most suitable candidates using motivated, and talented prisoners who act as internal recruiters. Inside Job recruiters are stationed at visible employment desks in prisons, where they offer practical support in areas such as CV writing, disclosure letters, and interview skills. They also provide hope and encouragement to candidates.

Beating Time’s Chief Executive Officer/Founder, Heather Phillips, shared the success of the project, “We have placed over 320 people into work in just over 30 months. The secret is that Inside Job has been designed by and is run by the people who need to access it. Gradually we’ve built up a network of over 100 employers who want our candidates, knowing we will support and sponsor them.”

We are proud to partner with them and contribute to their remarkable work.
