Niall Hartnett – Health and Safety Champion HS2 (C2LS)

Congratulations to Niall Hartnett, whose excellent contribution to health and safety on our HS2 Coventry to Leamington Spa (C2LS) bridge site saw him recognised as a Safety Champion by Main Contractor BBV.

C2LS was a complex bridge built offline over 10 months and slid into place under an existing network rail line. The line was shut for 9 days while the push was completed, allowing the project to be finished safely, on time and within budget, and the railway re-opening with no issues.

Niall Hartnett is the formwork supervisor who led the team of joiners, whilst taking on a wider supervision remit across the site. The joiner’s work on the 10m high walls and bridge deck was complex, intricate, and completed to an excellent standard.

Matt Degg, Galldris Project Manager, says ‘Health and safety is at the forefront of everything we do at Galldris. All our workforce work tirelessly to ensure everyone goes home safe and well every day, but Niall has gone above and beyond. He fully deserves the recognition as ‘safety champion’.

Well done, Niall.
