Galldris are proud to announce that Esperance Bridge, Kings Cross was a winner at the recent Structural Steel Design Awards 2022 at Christ Church, Spitalfields in London.

This project in partnership with our client Argent LLP saw us acting as Principal Contractor for the successful delivery of this 25m-long footbridge, which crosses Regent’s Canal and links Pancras Square with the shopping and dining district of Coal Drops Yard.

Designed by Moxon Architects Ltd. with structural engineering by Arup the footbridge was then developed, fabricated and installed by SH Structures Limited.

The judges commented “An elegant, pragmatic solution that is carefully crafted and beautifully made. This pedestrian bridge adopts the alignment of a historic bridge with its design appropriately reflecting the site’s industrial heritage. Thoughtful detailing of the curved steelwork to create the three-dimensional sculptural balustrade fully exploits the properties of steel and the potential it offers.”
